How long does the scent from a shower filter actually last?
· 4 min
On your skin, in your hair and in the bathroom, these are three different answers. Here are all three without the marketing.

Nobody publishes a straight answer to this, which is strange, because it is the first thing anyone asks about a scented filter and the thing most likely to disappoint if you expect the wrong thing.
There are three answers, not one.
On your skin: light, and shorter than perfume
You notice it immediately when you step out, and it stays as a soft background rather than a trail. It is the difference between smelling clean and wearing a fragrance.
How long depends on your skin. Scent molecules bind to the lipid layer, so drier skin holds them for less time. There is a small irony here worth knowing: the chlorine the filter is reducing is one of the things degrading that layer in the first place.
In your hair: longer
Hair holds scent better than skin does, which is why perfumers suggest misting hair rather than clothes. Expect it to outlast the skin noticeably.
In the bathroom: longest, and this is the part people do not expect
Steam carries the fragrance into the whole room and it lingers well after you have finished. For most people this is the most obvious effect of the whole product, more than anything they smell on themselves.
And across the cartridge's life it declines
Strongest in the first weeks, weakest near the end. Hana's cartridge lasts one to three months depending on water quality and how often you shower, averaging about two with daily use.
So the honest expectation is a curve, not a flat line. Knowing that in advance is the difference between a product that ages normally and one that feels like it stopped working.
A practical consequence: because the cartridge is replaced every couple of months anyway, changing scent costs nothing extra. Many people take a three pack with three different scents for that reason.
How to get more out of it
- 1Run the water for ten seconds before your first use. It activates the beads.
- 2A warmer shower releases more scent than a cool one, though cooler water is better for your skin, so there is a trade.
- 3Close the bathroom door. Most of the effect is in the room, and an open door disperses it.
- 4Apply lotion within three minutes of getting out. Better hydrated skin holds any scent longer.
Eight scents, one to three months each. Pure Balance is the mildest, Citrus and Confidence the strongest.

How long does a cartridge last?
One to three months depending on water quality and how often you shower. About two months on average with daily use.
Does the scent get weaker over time?
Yes. It is strongest in the first weeks and fades towards the end of the cartridge's life. That is how a consumable works, and worth expecting rather than being surprised by.
Can I change scent?
Yes. The cartridge is replaced every couple of months anyway, so you can pick a different scent each time at no extra cost.
